The Bloodhound 1,000mph supersonic racing car, with state-of-the-art EJ200 jet engine, achieved a huge engineering milestone by successfully starting it up and taking it to max reheat. Driver Andy Green sat in the cockpit throttling the jet engine. The car was tied down to a secure anchor point on the southern side of Cornwall Airport, Newquay.
