A young calf in front of a stone wall with a rustic looking timber door in a mud rendered stone stack Tibetan style village house in the village of Kagbeni in the desert landscape of the Tibetan Plateau in the Mustang Region of Nepal. Kagbeni is a traditional Tibetan style village located on the Kali Gandaki River on the Tibetan plateau at an altitude of 2800m in the Mustang Region of Nepal. It lies at the junction of the entry point to the Upper Mustang Region leading to Lo Manthang which requires a special permit, the trail to Muktinath which is a famous pilgrimage site and along the Annapurna Circuit trek and Jomsom which is the main airport in the region. The houses in Kagbeni are constructed primarily of mud packed stone and prayer wheels and flags are abundant. There is a Hindu temple which is popular with pilgrims venturing to Muktinath and a large Tibetan Buddhist Monastery which dominates the urban landscape of narrow passageways.
