A Bank Vole (Clethrionomys glareolus) watching a hunting Common Shrew (Sorex araneus).They both share the same tunnels in this log pile in the woods and on this occasion their paths have cross, a very rare sighting. They are not animals that get on and a nasty fight can occur resulting in the death of one of them or a nasty injury, if they don't avoid each other. On this occasion the Bank Vole retreated and went a different route to look for food.
