The Moomba Festival is a 4 day event held annually each year by the Yarra river in Melbourne since 1955 over the labour day long weekend. Traditional events include the Moomba parade, crowning of Moomba monarchs, fireworks displays, carnivals in the gardens along the river, river activities including water sports, water floats and the birdman rally, as well as live music and bands. The Moomba parade as shown in these photographs illustrates the multicultural diversity of the City and are an example of the harmonious interracial nature of the City. Practically every nationality that lives in Melbourne are represented in the parade.
