Couching Stitch on Wool Felt - stock photo

This is an example of an embroidery stitch called the "couching stitch." There is multi-color yarn arranged in a random pattern. The yellow stitches are done by hand using a cotton embroidery floss. The background is wool felt. It was part of a year-long project in which a different stitch was learned each week for one year. This embroidery sample went into a journal that was kept by the artist/stitcher. Each week there was an embroidery sample, personal reflection, gratitude list, and collage. The journal was started after the artist/stitcher's father passed away from Alzheimer's Disease.
