Without any sharks being brought to shore to be showcased to the public, the tournament relied on shark teeth and trivia to entertain and engage the public about sustainable fishing at the 32nd Annual North Atlantic Monster Shark Fishing Tournament in New Bedford, Ma (formally on Martha's Vineyard) on Saturday July 14, 2018. This was the fist time in over 30 years where no sharks were caught on a Saturday to be brought in. Organizers claim 13 sharks were caught offshore today but that they were too small or of the wrong species, such as Blue Sharks, to be kept and so they were released. - The tournament is a not for profit and proceeds go to fund shark research and promote fishing sustainability.
