(Original Caption) Valentine Philip McAuliff, 42, walked into the District Attorney's office in San Diego, CA, and said he had written five extortion notes to Aimee Semple McPherson, the evangelist, demanding $10,000 on the threat of "exposing her and blasting her reputation by making public pictures of her in the nude." McAuliff was held for observation while police checked his record and conferred with postal authorities in an effort to determine the asserted letters had been sent as claimed.
