Myanmar - Inle Lake - Daily Life - Children

Two Intah children near the rivers of the Inle Lake. At 875 meters above sea level, Inle Lake is surrounded by high hills that keep the waters calm and the lake area misty. Measuring 13.7 miles long and 6.8 miles wide, Inle Lake is at the center of four cities and numerous small villages inhabited by roughly half of the area's population, some 70,000 Bamar, Danaw, Danu, Intha, Kayah, Pa-O, Shan, and Taung-yo peoples, among others. The Inle Lake supports a thriving farming community that produces a wide range of vegetables and flowers, and rice is cultivated at the northern end of the lake on extremely fertile floating islands.
