Wall Street saw highly volatile trade Tuesday as investors looked for signs on the failure or rescue of insurance giant AIG, a behemoth whose collapse could deal a further blow to a shaken global finance system. A day after a global market rout, US shares opened with steep losses, then swung higher on reports of a potential AIG bailout, then retreated. AIG shares plunged as much as 70 percent before a modest bounceback. At 1530 GMT, the Dow Jones Industrial Average traded down 35.01 points (0.32 percent) at 10,882.50 and the tech-heavy Nasdaq composite shed 9.73 points (0.45 percent) to 2,170.18.
