In the territory of Masisi, in eastern DRC, testimonies and reports accuse Congolese soldiers of abuses against the population, already victim of armed groups. Thousands of people in displacement sites in Masisi, has fled clashes between the FARDC (Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo) and armed groups since the start of the state of siege in May 2021. A year ago, Democratic Republic of Congo President Félix Tshisekedi decreed this state of exception and gave full powers to the military in the hope of putting an end to the violence in the provinces of Ituri and North Kivu (where the territory of Massisi is located).
