The Warringah Shire Council "Artist In Residence" program got under way today with the official opening at Dee Why Beach by the Shire Pres. Cr. Creagh. Winifred Atwell, who was among the many arts & crafts people who have been asked to volunteer their services during the month, spending a week at Dee Why, Collaroy, Mona Vale & Avalon from 9am to 5pm, was at the opening today. The Program is aimed to encourage teenagers & school leavers to gain practical knowledge in the arts from leading professionals who will work out of a mobile studio with materials supplied by local dealers.Judith Shaw of manly help the children with their painting while artist Jenny Toynbee Wilson of Balgowlah demonstrates Peter Batik (in background).
