Australian Defence Forces Deployed To Assist In Flood Rescue And Relief Across NSW

The Australian Defence force are deploying 611 personnel across New South Wales as part of Operation NSW Flood Assist. Following initial emergency response from HMAS Albatross and RAAF Base Richmond, and Holsworthy, including Navy helicopter support for Search and Rescue. The Australian Defence force is now assisting with recovery operations that significantly increased on March 26th as flood waters started to recede and the operation shifted to a recovery and clean up phase. Unprecedented and devastating flooding across the state in recent weeks has seen tens of thousands of people forced to evacuate after days of torrential rain caused some of the worst floodings the state has ever seen.
