Students Attend World's Greenest School

BADUNG, BALI, INDONESIA - MAY 20: Students eat their lunch at the main hall of Green School on May 20, 2013 in Badung, Bali, Indonesia. Green School was founded in 2006 by former jewellery maker John Hardy and has just under 300 students aged 6-18, enrolled from over 45 different countries. Located in the remote Sibang Kajha area north of the Badung Regency, the campus is built using sustainable natural material and is powered by over 100 solar panels that provide over 80 percent of the school's energy needs. The curriculum covers mathematics, science, languages and other general subjects and places an emphasis on teaching students the importance of being environmentally conscious and living sustainably. Each of the classrooms has its own rice paddy which the students are responsible for maintaining and then harvesting for consumption. In 2012 Green School was awarded 'the greenest school on earth' by the Center for Green Schools and the U.S. Green Building Council. (Photo by Putu Sayoga/Getty Images)
