CALCUTTA, INDIA: Students at Calcutta's Welland Goldsmith School perform, early 14 August 2004, a special prayer for the family of Indian convicted rapist and murderer Dhananjoy Chatterjee, following his execution at 4:30 am IST (2300 GMT Friday) in a Calcutta jail. Chatterjee, 42, convicted of raping and killing 16-year-old Indian schoolgirl Hetal Parekh, who was then a student at Welland Goldsmith School, in 1990, became the first person hanged for their crimes in India in nearly a decade, after his final appeal for a presidential pardon was dismissed by President Abdul Kalam last week.
