FEB 12 1967, FEB 13 1967 Roundabout Route Traced by Pilots Pilots J. William Bullock, left, and Robert G. Beabout of the Research Aviation Facility of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) Facilities Laboratory in Boulder check the route they will fly this week in a circuitous 2 ½ - month trip to the South Pacific. The NCAR plane is in the Roach Aircraft, Inc., hangar at the Jefferson County Airport. Bullock and Beabout will take the twin-engine Beechcraft Queen Air A80 to Palmyra Atoll in the Line Islands near the equator south of Hawaii by way of Alaska. On Palmyra, the plane, filled with instruments, will be used until mid-April on an intensive study of the atmosphere. One of the aims of the study, known as the Line Islands Experiment, is to coordinate ground-based observations with photographs taken by the ATS-1 satellite launched in December.
