FRANCE-LIBERATION OF PARIS-AFP-DISPATCH
Reproduction of the first news dispatch sent by the Agence Française de Presse (soon to become Agence France-Presse) addressed "to all free newspapers of Paris" on August 20, 1944. As Allied and Free France forces advanced towards Paris, eight journalists backed by Resistance fighters took over the former Havas Agency, which had been occupied by the collaborationist Vichy regime's propaganda machine.
