Rastafarian Natives at Home

Rastafarian Havasupai Indians. No one can say accurately how or when Rastafarianism first penetrated the depths of the Grand Canyon, but it is known that it was thriving by the mid-1970's. The Havasupai (Supai, for short) reservation is located near the bottom of the Grand Canyon, and like other Indian reservations, has been plagued by white tourists in search of spiritual wisdom. They find their religion is commercialized and exploited by New Agers. Bob Marley is considered a spiritual leader by the 500 villagers there, incorporating his lyrics into the Corn Dance songs, and attempting to match his prodigious ganja consumption.
