President Gloria Arroyo (R) greets representatives of landless farmers belonging to the Higaonon tribe, during a meeting at Malacanang presidential palace in Manila 17 December 2007. Arroyo listened to the problems of the farmers who marched from their hometown in Sumilao in southern Philippine island of Mindanao for nearly two months to make their appeal to the Philippine leader to reclaim the 144 hectare (355 acres) disputed property the farmers claim as their ancestral land that was recently acquired by a subsidiary of San Miguel Corp. a food and beverage company.
