Police seize a Mataungan supporter during the four-hour riot on Matupit Island on Thursday.Almost 200 riot police late today made an unsuccessful attempt to arrest villagers involved in yesterday's savage violence around Rabaul's Lakunai Airport.Today's police raid on Matupit—-island followed yesterday's bitter skirmishing between 150 armed riot police and 500 villagers.A Tolai villager of the Gazelle Peninsula and four from the Sepik district were each jailed for four months today on charges arising from yesterday's clashes.The five had pleaded not guilty to charges of riotous behaviour.
