SANTIAGO, CHILE: (FILES) Picture of September 1973 of the president of the Chilean military junta, General Augusto Pinochet, in Santiago, following the CIA-aided coup against democratically elected President Salvador Allende. A court on May 28, 2004 stripped former dictator Augusto Pinochet of his immunity and said he could be prosecuted for his role in Operation Condor, a coordinated operation between former military governments of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Bolivia and Paraguay to eliminate left-wing opponents.
