Photo taken on June 25, 2009 shows people sitting on the ground at an Internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in Kenya's Molo district where many members of the Kikuyu community have been forced to flee to for fear of being attacked at their farms. Tribal animosity in the Mau forest area, an area of long-running controversy centred on a government sponsored land distribution programme gone awry, hit fever pitch immediately following Kenya's 2008 controversial presidential election results that saw the two main communities in the area, Kikuyu and Kalenjin, divide along political lines, a split that eventually degenerated into deadly clashes that saw hundreds killed in the country and thousands more, including in the Mau forest displaced from their farms. Almost two years since the elections, tens of Kikuyu families are now unable to resettle in their respective homesteads for fear of reprisals from the Kalenjin and prefer to visit their farms to cultivate during the day and return to the camps at night where they feel safer.
