People use binoculars for a glimpse into North Korea on April 4, 2009, standing at the end of the halfway Yalu River bridge in Dandong, in northeast China's Liaoning province, looking toward the North Korean border town of Siniuju, beside the Sino-Korean Friendship bridge which connects the neighboring countries. The nuclear-armed communist nation said it has finished its preparations for a satellite launch which would go ahead "soon", while keeping the world guessing on the timing of what critics see as a disguised missile test. The broken bridge remains standing only halfway across the Yalu River after it was bombed by the United States in 1950 during the Korean War and eventually dismantled from its own half by North Korea shortly after the Korean War armistice.
