The Bellevue, Nebraska Police Department has nearly quadrupled the number of female officers under the leadership of Chief Ken Clary who was hired in 2020 and has the goal of hiring as many women as possible to be police officers in the Omaha suburb. He believes they are less likely to use force to resolve conflicts, less likely to draw complaints, more effective in investigating sexual assault and better at executing traffic stops.
