UKR: Chernobyl
PRYPYAT, UKRAINE - JUNE, 2006: Nothing has moved in the Prypyat primary and nursery schools, where the children were in the middle of preparing the May Day celebrations, seen here on June 1, 2006 inside the Chernobyl exclusion, Ukraine. Even school dolls and toys remain in place. Prypyat was a joyful town established in 1970 which population of more than 45,000 habitants. It is located only about 1.5km from the Chernobyle nuclear power plant, and was entirely evacuated on April 27, 1986, the day after the Chernobyl explosion. Today, it is a ghost town and entry is still forbidden. Since its evacuation, which lasted only a few hours, Prypyat has remained untouched. Everything was destroyed to prevent plundering of contaminated equipment. (Photo by Patrick Landmann/Getty Images)
