Trainers Helping Max Schmeling to Corner

(Original Caption) 6/22/1938-New York, NY- It took two minutes and four seconds for Joe Louis to undo Max Schmeling's years of hopes and months of training and planning. Referee Arthur Donovan and the German's handlers are shown helping him to his corner after Louis sent him smashing to the canvas three times in the first round. He had risen to his feet and was reeling helplessly when his trainer and friend Max Machon tossed in the towel.
