Among those who were devastated was his fiancee, Mary Barcus at that time , of Greenbelt, Md. The had met at Steubenville College and he had given her his college ring. After his funeral, her parents wanted to help ease her pain, removed most vestiges of his life from their house. But a half century later, she still has the ring.
