Mamadou Soliou Jalloh, brother of Sierra
Mamadou Soliou Jalloh, brother of Sierra Leonean asylum-seeker Oury Jalloh (or Jallow) who burned to death in a police cell in 2005, stands in front of the court in Dessau-Rosslau, where the verdict against two German policemen is to be spoken on December 8, 2008. The policemen were acquitted. The case made the headlines as the victim allegedly set a mattress on fire with a cigarette lighter although is hands and feet were shackled to the bed. State prosecutors say he could have been saved if the police had acted fast enough to get him out of the cell, but that they repeatedly ignored a fire alarm.
