A Malian boy draws his vision of the fut

Bamako, MALI: A Malian boy draws his vision of the future of the world in a drawing workshop 20 January 2006 in Bamako, at the World Social Forum (WSF) that aims to challenge and propose alternatives to the neo-liberal free-market policies of most industrialised nations and what forum participants regard as a world trade system heavily weighted in favour of the rich. Thousands of people from folklore experts and social scientists to politicians gathered in one of Africa's poorest nations for the start of the 6th World Social Forum to challenge globalisation. This year's WSF is a dual first. Africa has hosted no previous such forum, while the idea in 2006 is to make the event "polycentric", meaning that it begins in Africa, then the focus will move to Caracas in Venezuela next week to coincide with the Davos summit of rich nations and poor guests. The third part, an Asia WSF planned for Karachi, Pakistan has been postponed until March due to the devastating earthquake last October.
