Landless farmers belonging to Higaonon tribe celebrate as they camp out near Malacanang presidential palace in Manila 18 December 2007 following a meeting of tribe representatives with President Gloria Arroyo at the palace. According to the tribe leaders, Arroyo has recognized the farmers' claims on the disputed 144 hectare (355 acres) property the farmers claim as their ancestral land that was recently acquired by a subsidiary of San Miguel Corp. a food and beverage company. The farmers walked some 1,700 kilometers over nearly two months from their hometown in Sumilao in southern Mindanao island to Manila to prevent the conversion of the property into a hog farm.
