Judenbad (mikvah) in Friedberg
Judenbad, or Jewish Bath, in Friedberg, Germany, 13 April 2013. Built in 1260, this mikvah lies 25 meters below street level. Friedberg once housed a prosperous Jewish community that was totally wiped out during World War II. The Judenbad houses a memorial to the fallen local Jews who fought for Germany during WWI. The mikvah, the old synagogue arson memorial and a plaque are all what is left. (Photo by Horacio Villalobos/Corbis via Getty Images)
