Isabella Sanhueza, 9, of Northglenn, sits in the shade of a traditional japanese umbrella as she watches dancers perform on the stage. The 2011 Cherry Blossom Festival was held this weekend June 25th and 26th, 2011 at Sakura Square, at 19th and Lawrence Streets in Denver, Colorado. This year's activities included demonstrations on bonsai (miniature trees), shodo (calligraphy), ikebana (flower arrangement) and chanoyu (the tea ceremony). A variety of Asian-themed arts and crafts, textiles, and other unique merchandise was on sale in the marketplace of covered booths located south of the stage. Freshly prepared teriyaki chicken and beef, noodles, sushi and other Japanese delicacies were also available. The festival is a Colorado celebration of Japanese-American Culture, food, music, dance, arts and crafts. Helen H. Richardson, The Denver Post (Photo By Helen H.
