Dozens of dance schools in the high-tech city of Bangalore have cropped up to cater to newly affluent technology workers who earn an average starting salary of 20,000 rupees per month (655 dollars) in a country which has 300 million people live on less than a dollar per day. During weekends young men and women crowd the pubs of Bangalore dancing to rock, jazz, country and fusion music.Now it is salsa, first popularised in Latin America and which has a pattern of six steps danced over eight counts, which is the latest craze to hit Indian dance floor.
