Kuwait After The Gulf War
Huge flames and acrid smoke rises above burning high pressure oil wells with pollution blocking out the sun in the Burgan oil field, located in the desert of southeastern Kuwait, after the end of fighting in the Gulf War in March 1991. Following Iraq's invasion of Kuwait on 2nd August 1990, the United States and allies created a coalition of forces with the aim of liberating the country. Operation Desert Storm in the Gulf War began with the aerial bombing of Iraq on 17th January 1991 and concluded with the Allied Liberation of Kuwait on 28th February 1991.
