Rene Rivkin Insider Trading Trial In Syndey
SYDNEY - MAY 29: His son at the trial of prominent Sydney stockbroker Rene Rivkin, who will spend his weekends in jail for the next nine months. A New South Wales Supreme Court judge has sentenced Rivkin to a $30,000 fine and nine months weekend periodic detention for insider trading of Qantas shares. Rene was born in Shanghai, China in 1944 and moved to Australia in 1951 where he started a career in the stockmarket at a very early age. The 58-year-old was convicted of trading Qantas shares while in possession of inside information.
