Garland, UNITED STATES: A worker at the Hatco company sews on a band to a Stetson hat 09 June 2006 at the largest western hat maker in the United States based in Garland, Texas. Few icons are as emblematically American as the cowboy hat. Grandiose and utilitarian, it remains the quintessential trademark of the American West. Stetson hats have been given to many high profile people including Pope John Paul II, US presidents and many foreign leaders as a symbol of US culture.
