Memorial Events Take Place To Remember The 72 People Killed In The Grenfell Tower Fire - Fifth Anniversary
LONDON, ENGLAND - JUNE 14: Fire Fighter join the the procession protestors take part in the 5th annual Silent Walk at Grenfell Tower on June 14, 2022 in London, England. On 14 June 2017, just before 01:00, a fire broke out in the 24-storey Grenfell Tower block of flats in North Kensington. The fire started with an electrical fault in a refrigerator and then spread to all floors and burned for 60 hours due to the type of cladding on the exterior of the building. Seventy-two people died and more than 70 others were injured. It was the deadliest structural fire in the United Kingdom since 1988 and the worst UK residential fire since World War II. The first inquiry held into the fire found that the building's exterior did not comply with regulations and was the central reason why the fire spread and that the fire service was too late in advising residents to evacuate. The second inquiry began in 2020 and is ongoing. To date, no one has been held responsible for the fire and deaths. (Photo by Guy Smallman/Getty Images)
