(Original Caption) Eastward Migration Begins. California Desert: Since 1941 men and women from all corners of these United States have flocked to war production centers for jobs to help make this country the arsenal of Democracy. Huge airplane plants and shipyards on the West Coast drew a horde of willing workers. With the war over cutbacks and the resulting mass lay-offs have started migration eastward in almost same proportion as trek westward back in pre-war days. Speeding past one of Highway 66 markers, Edmond M. Snow and his family head back to Minnesota after four years of war work at consolidated vultee aircraft plant, San Diego, Calif. He plans to buy a small farm with savings from his war jobs.
