Saving Children's Lives One Heart At A Time
BETH SHEAN, ISRAEL - NOVEMBER 05: Donna Petrel (C), a staffer at the Christian aid group Shevet Achim, carries eight-month-old Iraqi Muslim boy Hedi in her arms as three Iraqi children, all born with congenital heart defects, arrive in Israel for heart surgery November 5, 2007 at the border crossing from Jordan near the northern Israeli town of Beth Shean. The youngsters and their mothers who made the long journey from war-torn Iraq are just three of the scores of children who have been rushed to Israel this year for life-saving heart surgery organized by the Israeli-based organization "Save A Child's Heart". Since it was founded in 1996, "Save A Child's Heart" has treated more than 1,700 children from 28 countries around the world, including dozens from Iraq, bringing most of them to Israel for their surgery.
