ENGLAND - : ICI Billingham became one of the world's largest chemical plants and employed 20,000 people on its 1000 acre site at its peak during the 1960s. Billingham began in 1917 making ammonia used in explosives during WW1 and later developed a plastics plant. ICI Billingham?s many other facilities included the first secret experiments on the atomic bomb.
