Big Bear. August 08, 2003 Members of "Mojave Green" hike back to the base camp after a grueling hike through 8179 feet high Bertha Peak trail in San Bernardino Mountains. Mojave Green, a support crew for the regular U.S. Forest Service firefighters for the Mountain Top ranger district of the San Bernardino National Forest. To become a member of Mojave Green one must enroll in a course, called Basic Wild land Fire Control, offered by Victor Valley Community College in Victorville. The program is a partnership between the community college and the Big Bear & Lake Arrowhead ranger districts. Students taken this course has a chance to learn and to use the experience as a steppingstone for a career in the U.S. Forest Service or any other firefighting agencies.
