Dinner at the 2016 Alvin Ailey Gala literally heated up the DC social scene on February 2, 2016; guests like DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, Attorney General Loretta Lynch, and BET CEO Debi Lee fanned themselves post-steak as the temperature climbed. Despite the warm room at the Kennedy Center, the resplendent Alvin Ailey dancers took to the dance floor before the dessert course was served to lead the party in a funk dance party until midnight. Awash in jewel tone gowns, wild accessories, and an embrace of the natural hair trend that's been sweeping the beauty industry, the evening's attire was decidedly on the creative end of black tie. At the end of the evening guests donned furs both faux and real before twirling out into the warm(ish) night air.
