AMBROZIC--12/17/06---Aloysius Cardinal Ambrozic, 76. Ambrozic tendered his resignation as the Archbishop of Toronto almost two years ago, as is standard practice when a bishop turns 75, but was asked by the Vatican to stay on until his replacement could be found. A replacement was found and Aloysius Cardinal Ambrozic gave his last mass at St. Michael's Cathedra on Bond Street. The archdiocese of Toronto's 1.6 million Catholics has a new spiritual leader following the appointment of Monsignor Thomas Collins as archbishop.
